The team at Cisco is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of the Cisco NFVIS (Network Function Virtualization Infrastructure Software) product. NFVIS is a powerful solution built on Linux KVM technologies and is widely deployed by leading customers across the globe. It plays a critical role in helping customers manage the lifecycle of both Virtual Machines (VMs) and Containers—whether Cisco-built or third-party.

Cisco Entry Level Careers 2025. One of the unique aspects of NFVIS is that it runs on Cisco’s custom hardware platforms, such as ENCS, c8200-ucpe, and c8300-ucpe, as well as on Cisco’s General Compute hardware like the UCS-C series. Provisioning can be done easily through the Cisco SD-WAN orchestrator or via the intuitive, built-in NFVIS GUI.

The team takes complete ownership of the product lifecycle, ensuring high-quality releases through a robust CI/CD pipeline with end-to-end automation. Along with feature development, the team manages all release deliverables, including security updates and image postings. This ensures customers always have reliable, secure, and updated software to run their critical workloads.

In addition to technical development, the team works directly with high-profile customer accounts in a “high-touch” model. This means supporting customers through the entire feature adoption cycle, from introduction to successful deployment. The close customer engagement helps align product features with real-world needs.

Collaboration is also at the heart of this role. The NFVIS team works closely with other Cisco organizations, including SD-WAN, ThousandEyes, Security & Trust, Cisco Hardware, Compute, and Collaboration teams. This cross-functional teamwork ensures that NFVIS integrates seamlessly into the broader Cisco ecosystem, delivering maximum value to customers.

• Work hands-on with Linux systems, with a deep understanding of the Kernel and virtualization technologies like QEMU, Libvirt, and KVM.
• Build, enhance, and support features using Python, YANG models, and APIs (NetConf/REST) to simplify automation and integration.
• Apply strong knowledge of networking concepts and protocols such as DHCP, bridges, and VLANs to deliver reliable solutions.
• Contribute to the full development cycle—from design to deployment—ensuring high-quality and secure software releases.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional Cisco teams to align NFVIS with broader products like SD-WAN, security, and compute.
• Work directly with customers to support feature adoption, solve challenges, and ensure smooth deployment experiences.
