1. Intake Capacity

A total of 250 internship positions are available, out of which 100 seats are reserved exclusively for female candidates.

2. Fellowship Amount

Each intern will receive a total fellowship of ₹15,000 for two months. The payout structure includes ₹7,500 per month, or ₹10,000 for a one-and-a-half-month duration. Interns may opt for either one month, one-and-a-half months, or the full two-month internship. No additional financial benefits will be provided beyond this amount.

3. Internship Duration

The internship period will range from 1 to 2 months, tentatively scheduled between 15 May 2026 and 14 July 2026. The minimum participation period is one month, and the maximum allowed duration is two months only.

4. Accommodation & Meals

Hostel facilities will be made available within the IITH student hostels. However, interns will be responsible for paying their own mess and food expenses.

Academic Qualification

Applicants must be either a first-year MSc student (Mathematics / Physics / Chemistry / Biology), or a first-year MA student, or currently in the 2nd/3rd year of B.Tech./B.Des. (any branch), or in the 3rd/4th year of an Integrated B.Tech.–M.Tech. program.

Academic Performance Requirement

Candidates must rank within the top 20% of their class based on CGPA or percentage marks across all previous academic years in their respective discipline. This must be officially certified by the Head of the Institution or Principal at the time of application.

Certification Format

Applicants are required to download and submit the prescribed format for the letter issued by the Head of the Institution.

Student Status Requirement

The candidate must be a full-time/regular student at the time of applying and must continue as a regular student throughout the internship period.

Internship Commitment

The intern must be available to work on a full-time basis for at least one month. Part-time or online participation will not be permitted.

Application Deadline

No applications will be considered after the closing date. Late submissions will not be accepted under any circumstances.

Mode of Submission

Candidates must submit their applications strictly through the official online web portal.

Offline / Email Submissions

Applications sent via offline mode or through email will not be accepted or processed.

•  The final list of shortlisted interns will also be published on the official website under the SRC Office webpage in the “News/Announcements” section.
•  No separate communication will be sent through phone calls, offline letters, or other modes.

• The final decision regarding the selection of eligible candidates will rest solely with the authorities of IIT Hyderabad.
•  No requests, representations, or further communication regarding the selection process will be entertained under any circumstances.

IIT Hyderabad SURE Internship 2026 – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

2. What is the cost of the SURE Internship?

The SURE Internship at IIT Hyderabad is completely free. Please also refer to Points 3 and 4 below.

3. Is the SURE Internship paid?

Yes. Selected interns will receive an honorarium of ₹15,000 for the full two-month duration.

• ₹10,000 will be provided for one-and-a-half months.

• ₹7,500 will be provided for one month.

4. Is hostel accommodation included in the ₹15,000 fellowship?

Hostel accommodation will be provided free of cost. However, interns must bear their own food and mess charges. No additional benefits beyond the internship honorarium will be provided.

5. Are medical facilities available on campus for interns?

Basic medical facilities are available on campus. Outpatient services may be extended to interns on nominal charges as per IITH norms. Interns must arrange their own medicines.

6. Is the SURE Internship online or offline?

The internship is strictly conducted in offline mode. Online or part-time participation is not permitted.

7. My university classes end in May, or exams start in July. Can I join for one month?

Yes, you may opt for a one-month internship as per the application guidelines. However, the honorarium will be limited to ₹7,500 accordingly.

8. I am in the 3rd year of Integrated M.Sc./Dual Degree. Am I eligible?

Yes. Students in the 3rd and 4th year of Integrated M.Sc./Dual Degree programs are eligible.

9. I am a 2nd or 3rd year B.Sc. student. Am I eligible?

No. B.Sc. students are not eligible to apply.

10. I am a 2nd or 3rd year B.Tech student at IIT Hyderabad. Can I apply?

No. The SURE program is only open to students from institutions other than IIT Hyderabad.

11. In the application form, what does “top 20% of your batch” mean?

“Batch” refers only to your specific branch or discipline within your institution, not the entire college.

12. I am in M.A./M.Sc. 2nd semester, but my 1st semester results are not declared. Am I eligible?

No. You may apply in the next academic year once results are available.

13. Where can I find department details and research topics?

Please check the department dropdown section in the application form. Faculty names and research areas are listed there.

14. I am a 2nd year B.Sc. triple major student and ranked in the top 10%. Am I eligible?

No. B.Sc. students are not eligible.

15. I am a 2nd year B.Tech student, but my first semester is not yet completed. Can I apply?

No. You may apply next year once eligibility requirements are fulfilled.

16. I am pursuing M.Sc. 2nd semester, but my previous semester marksheet is not available. Am I eligible?

No. You may apply for the next SURE Internship cycle.

17. I am studying Electronics and Communication Engineering. Can I apply?

The internship is available only in the streams mentioned in the official application form.

18. I have completed my B.Tech/M.Tech/M.Sc. degree. Am I eligible?

No. The program is only for students currently pursuing the eligible degrees as mentioned in the official notification.

19. Can I change my mentor after internship allotment?

No. Mentor selection is final once allotted.
