About Program – NITI Aayog Summer Internship 2026

The NITI Aayog Internship Scheme is a Government of India program that provides students with practical experience in public policy, governance, and development planning.

Through this internship, students get an opportunity to work with different verticals, divisions, and units of NITI Aayog and understand how government policies are researched and developed.

Interns may assist in research work, policy analysis, report preparation, and data collection, which helps them learn about the functioning of the Indian government.

⚠️ Note: This internship is unpaid.

Application Process:-

Students can apply online through the official NITI Aayog website.

Important points:

Applications are accepted from the 1st to the 10th of every month
Students can apply 6 months in advance
Applications must be submitted at least 2 months before the internship start month

Example:

If you want to start an internship in April, you should apply between October and February.

Selection Process:-

Applications are reviewed by the Heads of different divisions at NITI Aayog
Each division can select up to 3 interns at a time
Selected candidates will be informed by the respective division

Students must submit:

Original mark sheets
No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their college/institution

Attendance Requirement

Interns must maintain at least 75% attendance during the internship.
Students with attendance below this requirement will not receive the internship certificate.

Internship Certificate:-

After completing the internship, students will receive an Experience Certificate issued by NITI Aayog.
Interns may also need to submit a final report or presentation describing their work and learning experience.

NITI Aayog Summer Internship 2026 – ELIGIBILITY

Category	Eligibility Criteria
Undergraduate Students	• Must have completed 2nd year / 4th semester of their bachelor’s degree• Must have at least 85% marks in Class 12
Postgraduate / Research Students	• Must have completed 1st year / 2nd semester of their postgraduate program• Must have at least 70% marks in graduation
Students Waiting for Higher Studies	• Students who have recently completed graduation or post-graduation and are waiting for admission to higher studies can apply• Must have 70% or more marks in their degree• The gap between result declaration and internship start date must not exceed 6 months
