Research Scientist Intern (PhD) 2026 is an internship designed for PhD students who want to gain hands-on experience in advanced research and solving real-world problems… You know what? During the internship, students work with experienced researchers and engineers on innovative projects in areas such as MACHINE learning data for artificial intelligence, computer systems for data science, or other advanced technologies. Interns prepare research papers, develop prototypes, analyze complex data, and discover new ideas that can improve products or scientific understanding. The internship helps, helps students develop, develop their research skills, collaborate with global experts, and gain valuable industry experience during their doctoral studies.

Preferred qualifications:-

Requirement	Description
Enrollment Status	Must be currently studying in a full-time degree program and expected to continue the program after finishing the internship.
Research Experience	Prior experience in research roles such as internships, full-time research positions, or work in academic/industry laboratories.
Academic Contributions	Experience participating in the research community, including publishing or contributing to papers in academic journals or conferences.
Machine Learning Tools	Familiarity with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow (TF), JAX, Flax, or other similar ML tools.
Data & Model Training	Experience working with large datasets or training large-scale/foundational machine learning models.
Research Skills	Ability to plan, design, and carry out independent research projects or research strategies.

During research internships, interns work with experienced research scientists and software engineers to explore new ideas, develop solutions, and build large-scale technologies. Guess what? Interns may work on projects related to artificial intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing, data mining, networking, operating systems, and computer architecture.

Interns also participate in research activities such as creating experiments, building prototypes, designing system architectures, and publishing research papers. You know what? Some projects are also implemented in cooperation with universities and research institutes.

This exercise is part of AI Innovation and Research (AIR), the applied research arm of Google’s Platforms and Devices organization. The AIR team focuses on the development of advanced AI technologies and next-generation products, working closely with the teams working on Android, Chrome XR, and GOOGLE Home.

Research includes areas such as in-device intelligence, large-scale artificial intelligence models, model privacy techniques, performance optimization, and new machine learning architectures.
