IISD India Internship Programme 2026 – IISD INDIA – INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME
Location: New Delhi, India
Length of Internship: Flexible (180 days or with a flexibility of minimum 30+ days)
Vacancies: Around the year
Remuneration: Those who will complete their Internship with absolute sincerity, honesty and exhibit adequate professionalism, will be awarded Internship Certificate.
Those who will perform par excellence and prove themselves extraordinary, during their internship period, will be issued a “Letter of Appreciation” from the Director General.

We seek interns with diverse backgrounds and who are passionate about the environment to help us to make a direct global impacts. We believe in the great hidden potentials of young minds and care to nurture these talents and show them the right directions so that they can contribute for the society, humanity and the protection of the planet. Our internships provide a learning experience for our interns who also contribute to our various ongoing routine works or projects as per their interest and skill sets. For which we have an interns hiring policy throughout the year.
This internship exposure equips these young people in developing enough self-confidence, courage and unique leadership quality which ultimately helps them to come out as successful professionals. While anyone interning with us, she or he has also enough opportunities to learn more about our professional work, work culture and get sufficient exposure to peruse always a great career of their choice to achieve their future objectives, materializing their ambition.
IISD India Internship Programme 2026, Foriegn interns, those who are keen to work on India’s Social, Environmental or Business related issues, Natural Resources Management, Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation, UN SDGs, International Co-operation, Bilateral Foriegn relations and Multilateralism or any of the topics listed in Focus Areas or Campaigns in IISD Website, for working either in the field or in the desk at the office, are invited, welcome and encouraged to apply with us.
Interns are offered one of the assignments among areas listed below.
EDITORIAL AND CONTENT DEVELOPMENT
Our interns help our Program, Editorial and Communication team to write/edit/proof-check articles and blogs. They also chip in for research, graphics designing, content development and fact-checking.
OUTREACH
Our interns are tasked with key outreach activities such as media engagements, drafting press material, identifying opportunities to engage with stakeholders, creating out of the box social media campaigns, working on newsletters and other communication and interfacing with important stakeholders.
OPERATIONS
We host multiple events that bring together experts, scholars, opinion leaders, national and foreign dignitaries for debate and dialogue. These high profile events require extensive planning; our interns help with their execution at multiple levels.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND PUBLIC RELATIONS
Interns those who are interest in branding, image building, business development, fund rising, reporting and public relations, are tasked similar short assignments.
INTERN’S QUALIFICATION
We consider those who are pursuing a Masters / Bachelor’s Degree in Science / Engineering / Commerce / Public Policy / Political Science / Economics / History / Law / Journalism and Communication. We expect our interns to be resourceful, have excellent organizational, communication and people skills and be self-starters who can work independently.
Strong Microsoft Office Skills, Computer Graphics, Knowledge of Designing Software and Mobile Apps etc would be a plus. In addition, Candidates having experience of handling analytical tools such as SPSS, Econometrics, and statistical tools and the knowledge of mathematical modelling will also be preferred for some assignments, which need some specific technical support. Moreover, knowledge and experience of video recording, editing in Photoshop, Flex and Banner making will be an added advantage.
Areas of Engagements
Broad areas in which, interns engagement is sought, are – Administration, HR, Finance, IT, Content Writing having rich presentation skill, Report Writing, Documentation, Event Management, Field Visit, Primary and Secondary Surveys, Monitoring & Evaluation, Photography, Architect & Engineering, Community Work, Emergency Response, Technology, Media Engagement & Public Relations and Translation from Hindi to English and from English to Hindi or from any regional Indian Language (you can specify) to English and from English to concern language.
VOLUNTERING
Interns those who are interest in active leadership role in Plantation Program of IISD-CMI-UNEP’s Trillion Tree Campaign is always encouraged.

All the intern positions with us, are normally “Full Time” in nature, However on exceptional situation, few “Part Time” position may be made available for extra ordinary candidates.
Few Paid Internships are available. Those who are applying for a Paid Internship or Internship with Stipend, have to compete with others, be selected on merit basis and deliver the work, as per IISD’s priority, in a time bound manner. This is not applicable to any student of any Educational Institute, College, or University. Only credible freelance professional of a specialized field can apply for this.
