About Internship: – FSSAI Internship Programme 2026

Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is a statutory body established under the Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006, under the aegis of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. It is the apex body responsible for ensuring food safety and compliance with food standards across the country. The FSSAI internship program will provide Interns with unique learning opportunities in various areas of food regulation and food safety administration.

Eligibility Criteria:-

Category	Eligible Courses / Fields
General Eligibility	Students must be pursuing a full-time Graduate / Postgraduate / higher degree from a recognized institute in India or abroad.
(a) Science & Food-Related Fields	PG Degree / B.Tech / B.E in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Technology, Food Science & Technology, Food & Nutrition, Edible Oil Technology, Microbiology, Dairy Technology, Agricultural Sciences, Horticultural Sciences, Industrial Microbiology, Toxicology, Public Health, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Fruit & Vegetable Technology, Food Safety & Quality Assurance
(b) Management & Related Fields	Studies in Business Administration & Management, Policy & Regulation, Finance, Taxation Law, Marketing, Psychology, Human Resource, Economics, Statistics, ICT (Information & Communication Technology), Entrepreneurship and related fields
(c) Media & Communication	PG Diploma / Degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Public Relations
(d) Engineering (IT/CS)	B.E / B.Tech (Only 3rd & 4th Year Students) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related fields (1st & 2nd year not eligible)
(e) Public Policy (FSSAI HQ Only)	PG Degree / Diploma in Public Policy, Public Administration
(f) Law	Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Law (LLB / LLM)
(g) Commerce	Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) and equivalent courses

Note:-

(i) All the students who have completed their abovementioned courses need not apply.
(ii) Multiple Applications will not be entertained.
(iii) All candidates are to ensure that the place for internship that they are opting has the subject/topic available with that place, i.e., in case of the FSSAI lab, only technically qualified candidates will be eligible.

Tenure:

Internship will be available on a quarterly basis throughout the year. Internship shall be offered for a minimum duration of 02 months, which may be extended to a maximum period of 06 months. No internship of duration less than 02 months will be offered.

Place of Internship and area/domain available for internship:

Any of the areas mentioned in the application will be deemed indicative of the preference and not a confirmation of protected allocation in the specific department

Working Space:-

Interns would be required to have their own laptops. FSSAI shall provide working space, internet facility and other necessities but shall not cover local lodging and travel facilities. FSSAl will not bear the expenses of any Boarding.

Application Process	Interested and eligible students must apply online in the prescribed format as per the timelines provided by FSSAI. Candidates not selected in a previous quarter must apply again for the next cycle.
Additional Requirement	Applicants may be required to submit a short write-up or presentation through the application portal for final selection.
Application Review	All applications will be evaluated and shortlisted by the designated Nodal Officers assigned for the internship programme.
Result & Selection List	The final list of selected candidates, along with joining date and internship duration, will be published on the official FSSAI website.

Category	Details
Documents Required at Joining	Interns must carry an official letter from their institute confirming their student status and a No Objection Certificate (NOC) permitting them to undertake the internship.
Additional Documents	A character certificate from the institute authority and proof of educational qualifications (as mentioned in the application) must also be submitted at the time of joining.
Joining Policy	Since the internship is conducted quarterly, any request to delay joining by more than one week will not be accepted.

Assignments:- Interns would be attached to one of the several Divisions at FSSAI (HQ)/ROs/Labs, depending on the academic and technical training and assigned project(s) related to different aspects of Food and Nutrition Management Processes. Stipend:- A stipend of Rs. 10,000/- (Rupees ten thousand only) for the whole internship period will be given to the deserving Interns on the recommendation of the Office/Division that they are attached with. The criteria for deserving interns will be decided based on their (a) attendancе, (b) assessment by their respective reporting officers, and (c) evaluation of their reports by Divisional Heads at FSSAI (HQ) and Director at ROs/NFLs.
Certificate:- All the interns will be awarded a certificate on successful completion of the internship i.e. on submission and review of final report/presentation, by their respective Divisional Heads at FSSAI (HQ) and Director at ROs/NFLs.
