General InformationISRO IIRS External Summer Internship 2026
  • Only Indian citizens can apply for an internship, summer, summer training, project or research work.
  • Students are selected based, based on space availability and the willingness or approval of IIRS faculty to mentor or supervise them. Seriously, the selection depends on the educational level, the importance of the topic, the teachers’ academic performance, the project’s duration, and the teachers’ current commitment.
  • Applicants must have a minimum cumulative score of 60% or a GPA of 6.32 on a 10-point scale in science or technology.
  • Requests to extend the training period won’t be considered.
  • Guess what? Confirmation of selection or offer letters is sent by email and is also available on the IIRS admissions portal by logging in as a student.
  • Applicants must upload a No Objection Certificate (NOC) or a letter of recommendation from their college/institute along, along with required academic documents during the online application process.
  • And oh yeah, Candidates who are not selected won’t be notified separately.
  • Guess what? The duration of an internship, summer training, project, or research work at IIRS ranges from 45 days to one year.
  • And oh yeah, Selected students must bring three, three passport-sized colour photographs, original academic documents, a valid photo ID and a university/college ID.
  • Applications can be submitted twice a year. Guess what? The application deadline is October 31 and March 31 each year.
  • We only, only accept online applications. Applications sent by e-mail or post won’t be considered.
OTHER INFORMATION:-

  • The internship or project assignment will be granted depending on the availability of subject expertise, ongoing projects, infrastructure, and how well the student’s academic background aligns with the activities carried out at the concerned Centre or Unit.
  • All submitted applications will be reviewed and evaluated by the respective Centre/Unit in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Project Trainees or Interns will not receive any stipend, salary, or financial support during the internship period.
  • Accommodation will not be provided to Project Trainees or Interns at DoS/ISRO Centres or Units.
  • A certificate will be issued to trainees or interns after successful completion of the internship or project, submission of the final report, and its evaluation by the concerned Division Head or Scientist.
  • Interns will be allowed access only to UNCLASSIFIED areas of DoS/ISRO laboratories and establishments.
  • Before publishing any papers or reports related to work carried out at DoS/ISRO Centres or Units through external platforms, interns must obtain prior approval from the respective Centre or Unit.

  • The internship is available to Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and PhD students who are Indian citizens and enrolled in a recognised university or institution in India or abroad in the fields of Science or Technology. Candidates who have completed their course within six months prior to the date of application are also eligible to apply.
  • The internship must be undertaken for a minimum duration of 45 days.
  • Applicants are required to have secured at least 60% aggregate marks or a CGPA of 6.32 on a 10-point scale to qualify.
