About Programme – NIT Visvesvaraya Internship Programme 2026

Students pursuing Undergraduate or Postgraduate studies at reputable institutions are encouraged to apply for the Summer Internship Program (SIP) at VNIT, following the prescribed guidelines. Selected students will get the opportunity to work on research or consultancy-based project components under the guidance and mentorship of VNIT faculty members.

General Instructions for Students applying for an internship

Guideline	Details (Rewritten)
Internship Queries	Any questions regarding the internship should be directed to the respective department internship coordinator listed on the internship website.
Eligibility of Students	The internship program is open to both VNIT students and students from other institutions.
Attendance Requirement	Intern attendance will be recorded daily through the biometric system at VNIT. A minimum of 75% attendance is required to qualify for the internship certificate.
Expected Outcomes	Interns are expected to produce meaningful results such as research publications, technology or product development, patent filing, or other significant academic outcomes. Interns must also present a seminar in their department.
Final Report Submission	At the end of the internship, interns must submit a detailed report through their internship supervisor to the department internship coordinator, following the prescribed guidelines.
Certificate Approval	The internship certificate will be issued only after a satisfactory recommendation from the supervisor and final approval from the Dean (Academics) based on the quality of the work submitted.
Conduct and Discipline	Interns must follow all rules and regulations of VNIT. Any misconduct or malpractice during the internship may lead to immediate termination and disciplinary action.
Undertaking Form	Each intern must submit a signed undertaking form (Annexure-I) confirming compliance with VNIT rules and its Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) policy.
Liability Disclaimer	VNIT, including its faculty and staff, will not be responsible for any accidents or injuries that may occur during the internship.
Project Distinction	The internship work must be clearly separate from any academic project being carried out at the student’s home institute, including VNIT.

Report Submission Guidelines (To be submitted at the end of the internship)

Internship Report Content	The final report should be detailed and clearly describe the work completed during the internship. It must cover the background, objectives, methodology, results, challenges faced, and key lessons learned, demonstrating the intern’s understanding and contribution.
Report Format	The internship report must be prepared using the Internship Report Template (Annexure-II) provided by the institute.
Plagiarism Verification	A plagiarism report must be attached to the submission to confirm that the report content is original.
Outcome Documentation	Interns should provide proof of outcomes achieved during the internship, such as technology or product development, research publications, patents filed or granted, or any other measurable contributions (if applicable).

NIT Visvesvaraya Internship Programme 2026 – ELIGIBILITY

Eligibility Criteria	Details
BE / B.Tech Students	Students who have completed the 2nd year or 3rd year of BE/B.Tech is eligible to apply.
Integrated B.Tech – M.Tech (Dual Degree)	Students who have completed the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of the integrated dual degree program are eligible.
B.Arch Students	Students who have completed the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of B.Arch are eligible to apply.
BS–MS (Integrated MSc Program)	Students who have completed the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of the integrated BS-MS program are eligible.
MSc Students	Students who have completed 1st year of MSc from any recognized university or institute can apply.
Academic Requirement	The student must have secured First Class or a CGPA above 7 in the latest grade card.
Important Note	Students who have completed the final year of their degree program are not eligible to apply for the VNIT internship.

How to apply? – Steps to be Followed by Candidates

Step	Details
Fill Registration Form	Complete the internship registration through the Google Form before the specified deadline.
Check Email for Updates	Regularly monitor the email address used in the registration form to receive updates about department–faculty interactions and further instructions.
Attend Presentation Seminar	Join the online or offline seminar organized by the Department Coordinator, where faculty members will explain their internship project topics and research areas.
Submit Faculty Preferences	Within the given timeline, provide your preferred faculty members under whom you would like to carry out the internship.
Check Final Internship List	Review the finalized list of internship allocations published on the institute’s internship website.
Confirm Participation	Confirm your acceptance of the internship with the assigned faculty member and Department Coordinator within the specified period.
Report to VNIT	Report to the institute on the scheduled date with all the necessary documents required for the internship.
